The Center for Autism and Related Disorders, Inc. (CARD) is looking for highly effective, intelligent, and motivated individuals to implement 1:1 behavioral and educational programs in the home and school settings of children diagnosed with Autism or similar disorders.

Positions Available
Therapist

Therapists implement 1:1 behavioral intervention programs to children in their homes and serve as instructional shadows in school settings. Initially, Therapists participate in a training program that provides instruction on Applied Behavior Analysis, discrete trial teaching techniques, management of maladaptive behaviors, social skills development, and data collection techniques applicable to our client population. Training opportunities continue throughout employment as our Therapists receive on-going supervision from professional consultants at CARD for each client with whom they work.

Therapists must meet particular requirements in order to be considered for employment at CARD:

Educational Requirements

  • Sophomore or higher in College or University, studying Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, Speech, or related fields.

Therapeutic Skills

  • Patience
  • Ability to interact well with children
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a therapy team member
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Availability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week

Other Requirements

  • Have means of transportation, license to drive and proof of valid insurance
  • No prior criminal history
Senior Therapist

Senior Therapists play a crucial role in the treatment process in that they not only carry out the responsibilities of a Junior Therapist, but they also work as leaders of their assigned therapy teams. Senior Therapists assist in the design and implementation of programs and are directly involved in the training of Junior Therapists. They also serve as a liaison between parents/teachers and the CARD supervisory staff, utilizing their skills as effective communicators and behaviorists to manage minor concerns and to assure consistency amongst the entire treatment staff.

Senior Therapists must meet particular requirements in order to be considered for employment at CARD:

Educational Requirements

  • Junior or higher in College or University, studying Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, Speech, or related fields.

Therapeutic Skills

  • Patience
  • Ability to interact well with children
  • 6 months prior experience as a discrete trial / behavior intervention therapist under the direct supervision of an approved behavior consultant
  • Case experience with at least 4 children diagnosed with Autism or a related disorder
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Leadership qualities
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Knowledge of Autism and/or child development

Other Requirements

  • Have means of transportation, license to drive and proof of valid insurance
  • No prior criminal history

Clinic/Case Supervisor

After extensive experience working within the field of Autism, either as a behavior therapist, special education instructor, early childhood specialist, or other similar occupation, and having completed and successfully passed a series of evaluations, Supervisors are responsible for assessing the needs of clients and developing appropriate individualized behavior programs accordingly. By providing clients with on-going supervision at a CARD site or in other areas around the world, Supervisors train and monitor therapy teams to ensure client success. Supervisors continuously evaluate progress and troubleshoot to create the most effective treatment plan for their clients. Supervisors may also serve as important members of IEP teams by providing goals and objectives, behavior intervention plans, and recommendations for comprehensive services for their clients to be implemented in the home and in the school settings. Finally, Supervisors are continually provided with the most current research on Autism, its prevention, and its treatment. As such, Supervisors have the opportunity to participate in the development and implementation of new CARD programs and treatment strategy workshops.

Supervisors must meet particular requirements in order to be considered for employment at CARD:

Educational Requirements

  • Valid special education teaching credential, a certificate of registration as a Psychology Assistant, MFT intern, or Associate Clinical Social Worker
    OR
  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Behavioral Analysis, or similar field


Therapeutic Skill Requirements

  • Fluency in Applied Behavioral Analysis
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • 1 year minimum of Senior Therapist experience under the supervision of an approved behavior consultant
  • Case experience with at least 20 children diagnosed with Autism or a related disorder
  • Expertise in the field of Autism and child development


Other Requirements

  • No prior criminal history
