Assessment

Assessment is the first step if you suspect your child has Autism or a related disorder. An appropriate assessment will provide a diagnosis and more importantly, treatment recommendations. Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Speech/ Language Pathologists, Pediatricians, Neurologists, and Educators may be able to assess your child.

However, your confidence in the diagnosis and recommendations may be increased by seeing an individual or agency that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Autism.

Typically, an assessment will consist of a behavioral observation of your child, an interview with parents and the administration of one or more standardized tests.
