ASA Announces Results of 2007 National Board Election

The Autism Society of America has announced that Doreen Granpeesheh, Ph.D. BCBA, Stephen Edelson, Ph.D. and John Reedy, MBA  were elected to serve three-year terms as members of ASA’s prestigious Board of Directors.

ASA's Board of Directors is composed of dedicated and esteemed volunteer representatives. The Board, chaired by Cathy Pratt, Ph.D., serves as the governing body of the organization and sets the vision for the Society's future. Through active use of standing and ad hoc committees, the national Board carries out its goal of fulfilling ASA's mission while also being responsive to the needs of its members and the autism community.

The three new members will begin their terms at the ASA 38th National Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, which takes place July 11-14, 2007. The 2007 election process produced a stellar slate of candidates, and ASA thanks all the candidates who gave their time to run in this election. ASA's Board is democratically elected by its membership.

Dr. Granpeesheh Ph.D., is the founder & Executive Director, Center for Autism and Related Disorders, Inc. (CARD), headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Edelson is the director of the Autism Research Institute in San Diego, California, an organization begun by ASA founder, the late Dr. Bernard Rimland. Mr. Reedy, who was re-elected, is the CFO of iTracs in Phoenix, Arizona, and the father of a child on the autism spectrum.

ASA is a leading voice and resource of the entire autism community in education, advocacy, research and support. The organization is committed to meaningful participation and self-determination in all aspects of life for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.
